An extremely rare single action pedal harp by Dublin harp maker John Egan, circa 1730, maker to King George IV. Beautifully decorated with cherubs, winding foliage and mythological creatures.  As well as the Royal Coat of Arms, the inscription to the  brass plate reads `John Egan 30 Dawson St Dublin. Maker by Special Appointment to His Most Gracious Majesty King George IV.`.

John Egan was an Irish harp maker working in Dublin from circa 1804 to 1841. Regarded as Dublin`s leading harp maker at that time producing many different types of harp, from small Irish harps with blades to single and double action pedal harps.  He is perhaps best known for his `Royal Portable` harps which were small Irish harps, about three feet high.  Egan obtained the Royal Warrant from King George IV (reigned 1820-1830) who was very popular at the time in Ireland and renowned for his patronage of the arts.
