French Beechwood Commode  

An 18th century Louis XV French beechwood  commode, the gently serpentined top with a moulded edge over two short and two long carved drawers with original bronze hardware flanked by simple striated frame and legs. Beautiful warm patination.  From Ile de France region, circa 1740.

This model was typical of the simpler type of furniture preferred by the aristocracy for their country houses and retreats in the rural regions surrounding Paris.
